Installation & requirements
The QnBot Python SDK connects to QnBot devices, manages gloves, reads glove poses and SDK-processed data, and controls glove fingertip vibration.
This documentation applies to qnbot-sdk-glove 1.3.0. Installation only requires specifying the Glove version; pip resolves the compatible dependencies.
Requirements
- Python 3.10 or later
- QnBot VetraSense Glove or VetraGlove Nano
- A
qnbot-sdk-glovewheel matching the current operating system and CPU architecture - macOS 14+, glibc Linux, or Windows
1.3.0 currently provides Glove wheels for the following platforms:
| Operating system | Architecture | wheel platform tag |
|---|---|---|
| macOS 14+ | arm64 | macosx_14_0_arm64 |
| glibc 2.34+ Linux | x86_64 | manylinux_2_34_x86_64 |
| glibc 2.34+ Linux | aarch64 | manylinux_2_34_aarch64 |
| Windows 10 x64 | x86_64 | win_amd64 |
Linux x86_64 and ARM64 Gloves both require glibc 2.34 or later; musl is not supported.
To change the SDK's application data directory, or to make the CLI and the SDK share one, see Application data directory.
Installation
macOS
PyPI currently provides a macOS ARM64 wheel:
python -m pip install "qnbot-sdk-glove==1.3.0"Linux
PyPI currently provides Linux x86_64 and ARM64 wheels. Both architectures require glibc 2.34 or later; musl Linux is not supported:
python -m pip install "qnbot-sdk-glove==1.3.0"Windows
Windows x86_64 uses PowerShell:
py -m pip install "qnbot-sdk-glove==1.3.0"Offline installation
Download the currently published platform archive from OTA. It contains both the Core and Glove wheels, which you need to install in the same command:
Extract the archive, then install using the actual Core and Glove wheel filenames:
python -m pip install "./qnbot_sdk_core-<version>-py3-none-<core-platform-tag>.whl" "./qnbot_sdk_glove-<version>-py3-none-<glove-platform-tag>.whl"The platform tags of Core and Glove may differ; use the actual names of the delivered files, and do not infer one from the file name of the other. In Windows PowerShell, replace python at the beginning of the command with py.
Verify the installation
Verifying the Python dependencies and the SDK import does not require connecting a glove, nor does it require installing a retargeting algorithm package. macOS and Linux, run:
python -m pip check
python -c "from qnbot_sdk import Sdk; from qnbot_sdk.glove import GloveConfig; print('QnBot Python SDK ready')"On Windows PowerShell, run:
py -m pip check
py -c "from qnbot_sdk import Sdk; from qnbot_sdk.glove import GloveConfig; print('QnBot Python SDK ready')"Expected output:
No broken requirements found.
